Wayback Machine: July 2023 wrap-up

July is usually a favorite month – birthdays, bonus holiday and so on. This year it was busy and hot. Not quite as much fun as normal.

At first we weren’t excited about this garden visitor – a Yellow Garden Spider – until we learned how beneficial they are to the yard.

We handed out thousands of birthday cookies and presents at All American Fourth. We also worked 14 hours that day in temps nearing 100F.

Our birthday present to ourselves was a photo shoot of Glory Be. She loved being the center of attention!

The photos were incredible!

Leave it to our PGLs to make us feel special on our birthdays!

Speaking of birthdays, I jetted off to NYC to run the Queens Half Marathon. I’d run a full marathon several years ago in upstate New York, but wanted a half marathon for my 50 Half Marathons in 50 States goal. It rained on me the entire time.

I spoke at a certification course for government communicators at TCU, then met up with Aunt Merry for lunch at Joe T Garcia’s. It’s fun having more and more family living relatively close by!

We treated our runners to fun swag this summer – cooling cloths with our new logo!

We wrapped up the month by kicking off a new 5k training session and, for the first time, a 10k training group.
