Looking back: Favorite Reads 2023 (and gosh did I ever read a lot!)

A couple of years ago I realized I hadn’t spent much time reading for pleasure. With a library card in hand and plenty of time to listen to audiobooks while running as well as reading the old fashioned way, I got about changing that.

This year I read a total of 151 books.

This total feels very high, but I’ve been working through cozy mystery series. Several were just 6 or 7 hour listens, which makes 2-3 book listens per week very manageable when you factor in time spent running, walking and commuting.

My absolute favorite reads this year were:

  • Bully Pulpit – Doris Kearns Goodwiin
  • All My Knotted-Up Life – Beth Moore
  • Present Over Perfect – Shauna Niequist
  • Whatever Next? – Anne Glenconner
  • The Thursday Murder Club – Richard Osman
  • Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life – Arnold Schwarzenegger
  • The Bible (Of course, I read through it every year, but it’s still my all-time favorite!)
