January 2024 wrap-up

Ah, January. The longest month of the year. But in this case, a fast first half and a (wonderfully) slow second half.

We kicked off the New Year with a very cold New Years Day 5 Miler with the IRC Dallas family.

We headed to Florida for our long-awaited Disney Marathon weekend. I ran the Half, which was cut short due to severe weather. It was still fun.

Kelly was able to cross the Dopey (5k, 10k, Half, Full) off his list. He said it was one of the most fun races he’d ever done.

I really wanted to get a proper Florida Half done so I wouldn’t fall behind in our 50 state quest. Fortunately there was another half just an hour away from Orlando. I drove over and ran it while Kelly ran the Disney full. Mission accomplished!

While we were out of town, my office remodel project started. They accomplished a lot in a few days!

I was able to finally see the White Rock bald eagle on a Saturday run with friends. Magnificent.

I took a quick 2.5-day trip to San Antonio for the TAMIO annual board meeting and conference planning retreat. We accomplished a lot in a short period of time.

Winter weather came earlier than normal – four solid days of hard freeze, snow and ice. Glory is still not a fan. But she *is* a fan of her Grandma Mo coat!

Melissa retired!!! After the weather warmed up slightly the team went out for a final Work Family Lunch at Urban Crust.

Sadly, we ended the month with Glory experiencing a terrible allergy break-out which impacted her happiness and health for the remainder of the month into February.
