Bookshelf Quick Fix

I totally love our bookshelves – we’ve had them for over a decade. But after changing from carpet to hardwood, and moving the bookshelves to a new location, I noticed something strange.

See it? The base of one bookshelf has plywood at the base! How did we miss this for so many years? Clearly I couldn’t live with this state of affairs, so I grabbed a packet of Miniwax wood stain cloths to do a quick fix.

All it took was unloading everything from the bookshelf, flipping it on each side and rubbing the plywood with the cloth. You have to let them dry for an hour before putting the bookshelf back on it’s base.

You’ll also notice the color isn’t an exact match, but it’s close enough for what I need. See? Problem fixed!
