December 2019 Wrap Up

The month started off terribly as we said goodbye to our little girl Bridget.

Yet life goes on and so does the routine, with regular events like the City’s employee holiday luncheon.

We escaped the “stuff” with a trip to Sacramento for another marathon for Kelly – the California International. It was good timing to get away from sadness at home.

Another marathon, the last of the season and the second in California this year, run and done. #56 for the books.

We started getting things in order at home, starting with Grandpa and Grandma Alloway’s iron bench finding a new home.

Because time is short and kitties have small brains, we took lots of time to snuggle and love on the boys. Both boys took over Kelly’s lap at times.

We celebrated the launch of Lakewood Brewery’s Bourbon Barrel Temptress with our friends.

And cheered our Dallas Galloway runners as they tackled the Dallas Half and Full Marathon on a very hot Sunday.

Podcast recording day was all about a hot topic – homelessness in Plano.

Another happy-sad day: Celebrating our colleague Regina on her retirement after 23 years with the City.

Then it was time to celebrate our Dallas Galloway runners at the end of season party. 25 years of Dallas Galloway and every year is full of stories of hope, success, heartbreak, lessons learned and lives changed.

A quick trip to East Texas for an adults-only family holiday meal. Our Yule Log from Millstone Bakery was a huge hit.

We enjoyed the holidays with friends. And finally – after too many years – were able to celebrate Christmas Eve with our own church family.

We also spent Christmas Day together. And this year – given losing Bridget and everything else – led to an epic Burning of the Grievances.
