June 2019 Wrap Up

June was equal parts relaxing and fun – with a road trip to one of our favorite places tossed in for both relaxation and fun!

Dallas Galloway season kick off – we’re in our 5th season of leading Dallas Galloway. Even with running numbers down nationwide, we’re staying strong with a good-sized group.

We popped the cork on the oldest bottle of wine in our collection to celebrate our 20th anniversary. And these glasses from Kelly M at work were the best to enjoy it in.

The kitties were cute, naughty and needy all month. We love them.

We hosted a hugely successful TEDxPlanoSalon session! (Our largest to date, in fact.)

Towards the end of the month, we took a quick trip to the Nashville area. We went for a concert, but went a day early for a bit of low-key exploring. Kelly didn’t think we’d like it, but we LOVED touring the Jack Daniel Distillery.

There’s nothing like southern cooking and Lynchburg Fixins’ does it right.

The concert! One of Kelly’s favorite bands from back in the day – White Heart – reunited for the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking “Freedom” album. It was a great concert!!

Even though I wasn’t a diehard White Heart fan, I really enjoyed the concert. I can see why they still can draw a nationwide crowd for a reunion concert.

My favorite part: Meeting Brown Bannister, legendary Nashville producer. While we sing along to an artist’s work, the producer is who makes a lot of the magic happen – from discovering artists to helping their sound be the best.

Also a fun surprise: Meeting Bart Millard, lead singer of Mercy Me. He’s originally from the DFW area and is also a huge White Heart fan.

Autographs, naturally.

The next morning before leaving town we tracked down the historic Bennett House where they recorded the album. The roominess of the space allowed for the album’s distinctive sound.

We also stopped for breakfast at the iconic Loveless Cafe. It’s located at the northern end of the Natchez Trace.

While their country ham is pretty special, NOTHING beats these incredible biscuits and homemade jam. A perfect meal to send us on our way home and to end the month!
