Local Bourbon | Touring Witherspoon Distillery

Last month, our realtor sent us an email and said “Did you get our open house invitation?”

I checked the languishing stack of mail and discovered the invitation – held at a local distillery. No wonder she was curious why she hadn’t heard from us! Distillery tours are kind of our thing.

Case in point: More on our trips to Kentucky here, here and here.

Anyway, we definitely made sure to attend the party and take the Witherspoon Distillery tour. It was no small endeavor after a long run morning, but worth it for a fun little distillery so close to home!

It’s housed in a renovated Piggly Wiggly. I love that the owners kept a remnant of the building’s history on the wall!

I can’t resist photographing rickhouses. So rustic and beautiful!

But the important question at hand: Was the bourbon any good?

Answer: Yes, yes it was. The single barrel straight is the best of the bunch. We really enjoyed their bourbon cream also. The bourbon chocolate covered cookie was simply amazing! Unfortunately, the Old Fashioned has too strong of an orange peel flavor for us.

All of the beverages sold at the bar are made on site. This is really a nice venue for hanging out and spending time with friends. All in all, an impressive find in old downtown Lewisville, Texas!
