Updating a Proverb

You are a cover thief, The Boy told me.

That’s not a very nice way to start the day!

I explained, after I was fully awake, that I wasn’t a cover thief. Bridget had taken over one side of the bed, so I’d had to scoot and cover myself with whatever scraps were available.

His response?

You can’t blame the furbabies for your cover-thievery!
That’s like robbing Kelly to pay Paws.

Somehow I don’t think that’s how the proverb goes.
