I Should Have Said

When I travel overnight, I double check my packing list to make sure I don’t forget anything.

I also make sure to prepare enough food to make The Boy’s life easy. A list on the side of the refrigerator clearly outlines what meal options are available in the pantry, the fridge and the freezer.

Simple, easy, ready-to-go…it all makes being gone easier on The Boy.

Or so I thought.

{Calling home to touch base.}

Me: How are things?

Him: I’m exhausted. I get home from work, fuss on the kitties, prepare my dinner, get lunch together…it’s just too much for one person to do.

Me: {silence} Oh. I see.

{After returning home.}

Me: You know that comment about how you had to do this and that while I was out?

Him: Yes, I remember.

Me: Well I was thinking at the time – everything you had to do that was “too much for one person” is what I do on a daily basis.

Him: True. I guess I should have said: It’s just too much for one man to do.
