Staying in Touch

The Boy and I were alone this weekend – The Niece headed out of town to spend some time with friends and family.

{You’d think we weren’t her friends…or her family! Whatever.}

Anyway, we were alone. And we didn’t have any deadlines or places to be or commitments to anything other than tackling some things on our to-do list, heading out for training runs and going to church.

I couldn’t believe what all we were able to accomplish. I need to have more weekends without The Niece. Or maybe just without anything on the calendar. {!!!}

Anyway, The Niece came back home Sunday late afternoon while The Boy and I were at the gym trying to fit in a workout before what’s sure to be a busy week at work.

She was in the living room when we returned.

Where were you? she asked. I’ve been texting you.

I went over and picked up my phone from the charging station. Sure enough, there were four messages, all from The Niece.

Message #1: Where are you peoples?

Message #2: Oh, never mind. I just heard your phone. You must have left it.

Message #3: There it goes again. I suddenly don’t feel so alone.

Message #4: Wait! Do you have unlimited texts? Maybe I’d better stop.

Reading her texts made me laugh….but not as much as I laughed 30 seconds later when The Niece’s iPhone buzzed. She pulled it out and read:

The question is, do you have unlimited texts?

  1. Can not LIVE without unlimited texting! And that story sounds a lot like a conversation I have had with my own husband.

  2. Unlimited texts is a great plan feature.
