Interesting…

I’m in Atlanta today, so this is short and sweet.

I read an interesting blog post on the future of higher education by Seth Godin. Here’s the link.

Give it a read and tell me what you think!

I’m not so sure I disagree with him, but I do wonder what the definition of “melt-down” is.

  1. I agree to a certain extent – there are aspects of higher education that need to change. But, I still believe in higher education – otherwise, I wouldn't be teaching at the university level.

Likewise, there are a definite differences in students today from when we were in school … too many to discuss here.

My problem is that schooling in general has gotten pretty lax. Continue to pay professional sports players billions but schools get told to deal with the deficit. Entire school districts where we live aren't even accredited because no one really seems to care. How are we going to get colleges to be able to continue something that hasn't started? There is so much on how I feel about this that I can't discuss it just here. I don't understand economy very well so I don't know how much help I would be if I took my thoughts and ideas to my legislators. Even at that, not sure how much difference can be made. Everyone has their set ideas on how things should be done and we are no longer a cohesive group. I used to believe in the United part of the United States but lately, I have been doubting it. Education is only part of the problem. It is however, a really good thing that needs to be redirected as if people growing up aren't educated or don't believe education is important, then we will continue to dwindle. At least, that is my not so humble opinion.
