Now This is What I Call Fun

When I was little, I loved to go trick-or-treating throughout my neighborhood. The challenge, of course, was to pick a costume that still looked great even when worn under a winter coat. (We always seemed to have the first snowstorm of the year on Halloween!)

But I guarantee that I would rather have gone to a Fall Festival, aka Trunk-or-Treat, if we’d had them in old Manhappenin’, Kansas!

Instead, I live out my little kid fun fantasies by helping out a friend-of-a-friend’s ministry to refugee families. We collect a passel of young ones, stuff them in the car and head to a local church for an evening of fun, games and sugar highs!

The inside of the church is full of carnival games and activities. Win or lose, there’s a candy prize every time. (Hooray for sugar!)

When the wiggles and giggles start getting out of control, it’s a simple matter to run everyone back outside to tackle the rock wall or go crazy in one of three bounce houses.

Like I said – fun, fun, fun times!!! Our two young men (C and D) had a fantastic time and we had a pretty good time ourselves.

    Ooh, rock walls rock.

  2. They were pretty tough, too! The wall, that is, not the boys. They wimped out about 10 ft up. 🙂

Not from lack of courage or gusto…they just didn't have the arm strength and coordination.
