I Am T.I.R.E.D.

Worn out.

Fatigued.
Beat down.
Burned out.
Add it all up and you’ve got one tired girl. Well, make that a tired girl and a tired guy. The Hayleys just can’t take much more, cap’n.
May has been a crazy month!
  • We moved from our long-time apartment into the Hayley House.
  • Contractors and handymen have been in and out of the house.
  • Kelly’s office flooded.
  • The office temporarily moved. Then moved back.
  • It was the annual audit at Kelly’s company.
  • I had two project interviews to prepare for at my company.
  • I also had four project submittals.
  • We’re also in the final month of a PR campaign.
  • And I answer the phones two mornings a week.
  • We rejoined the gym.
  • We worked a charity booth at a golf tournament.
  • We’ve had company.
  • And now we’re about to head to Manhappenin’ for a family weekend.
The sad news is that I had to look at my calendar just to recall all that had gone on this month. It’s as though this month exists within a mental fog.
The last month I lost to a mental fog was February 2008, when Kelly and I both had the flu. At the exact same time. Definitely not an experience I want to repeat.
Just through typing this activity recap, I’ve noticed that the overall theme of May was MOVING. From an apartment to a house. From a flooded office to a temporary office and back to a repaired office.
I remember feeling this same exhaustion when we moved back to the US from England a few years ago. No matter how much sleep you get at night, you wake up tired, barely able to make it through the day before collapsing again at 8 pm.
It must be the stress of living outside of a routine. However crazy one’s life may be, there’s still a rhythm and a sense of order. Things have a certain place, you do things in a particular order. The cats know when you get up and what it sounds like when you’re coming home. You can walk to the bathroom in the dark.
Moving simply throws all of that routine out the window, leaving you dazed and confused. And, in my case,  T.I.R.E.D.
