Musicals ARE Like Real Life

I used to say that anything that happened to me in life could, in some way, be related to an episode of the TV show, Friends.

And while that’s true, I also think that my life resembles a musical in many ways. Or at least it does at times.

Take, for example, my efforts to secure tickets to watch my beloved K-State Wildcats face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks in the 2012 Cotton Bowl.

I found myself in a bidding war, of sorts, to win the attention (and thus, the tickets) of the Arbitrator of Tickets and College Football Bowl Game Happiness in my office.

The whole experience reminded me of one of my favorite musicals, Oliver! There’s a classic scene between Nancy and the boys.

Only my version would go something like this:

I’d do anything for you tickets
anything
for you mean everything
to me

I know that
I’d think of anything for the Cotton Bowl
anything
for the Cotton Bowl
really is nearby

Would you bake a pie?
Anything
Bake an angel food cake?
Anything
Have your mom make cookies?
Anything
Even procure rare whiskey?
And a case of it.

I’d bid everything for one game
everything
Yes I’d do anything
Anything?
Anything for tickets!

And you know what? It worked!!

  1. Hysterical! And creative! And true! *laughing*

  2. I know! I crack myself up.

  3. Way to go! Have fun! Even though I still think the Cats got cheated out of the bowl they SHOULD have gone to. *sigh* #BCSisBROKE!
