December 2023 wrap-up

December was supposed to be a slow month. It felt like anything but that.

Our 5k-10k-Half-Full training programs wrapped up the first weekend of the month. We were very grateful to have a nice long break in front of us after 9 months of weekend running.

My office remodel project got underway. This will be a proper remodel – taking down walls, building a storage closet, office and conference room, and installing new system furniture. It should take the next 2-3 months to complete.

Of course, we couldn’t miss Andrew Peterson’s annual Behold the Lamb of God concert. We even skipped the office holiday party to attend.

My work team decided to have a potluck for the holidays and work together to donate a wonderful Christmas for Adopt-an-Angel. We had so much fun!

The end of the running training season means it’s time for the Dallas Half and Full Marathon. We had a huge group of runners this year! Sadly, I managed to blow out one of the car tires as we were on the way to the expo for packet pickup. Kelly was not happy with me.

Our end of running season breakfast run party was a lot of fun!

We headed to Tyler to spend a couple of days with Jim and Tammy for Christmas.

We sadly had to bid farewell to our friend Kevin after a courageous short battle with cancer.

Christmas was in Kansas with my family – relaxing, baking and lots of family time. Plus we celebrated Christian’s 5th birthday.

While we were in Tyler, Oliver and Jasper got into a spat. The end result was an infected ear for Oliver, resulting in surgery and five days at the vet’s. He’s been a cuddler ever since!

Finally – the year ended with two miracles. Three, maybe, depending on how you look at it.

First, Glory and Oliver willingly shared a lap and were sweet to one another.

Second, Nando’s opened in Addison making for a delicious New Year’s Eve dinner.

Finally, we felt that 2023 – while busy and stressful at times – was overall a great year and there was absolutely nothing that we could think of to burn grievances over. So we went to bed early instead. That was a wonderful New Year’s Eve indeed.
