July was BUSY. Busy with work, but mostly busy with running. Kelly and I both hit our highest number of running miles ever, thanks mostly to doing our first ever multi-state, multi-race one week trip.
Mom Hayley had a bad fall, which meant Kelly spent 14 days in Tyler helping around the house. While home along, I spent more time working on the landscape.
Welcome to being 50. First up for the new medical routine: Kelly.
We had a really fun (and unseasonably reasonably temps) team retreat, plus goodbye to T.
We finally were able to take Johnnie out of the care home (yay, vaccines!) and out to dinner. He ate his weight in pizza at Mama’s.
Then it was off to the races … literally! Glory Be joined us on another epic roadtrip through Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas and Oklahoma. The goal: 3 races in 5 days in 3 states. First up, Illinois, which was made even better because we ran with John.
After a day of rest, we headed to race #2 in Iowa.
Then a scary (ALMOST LOST OUR FRONT RIGHT TIRE!) drive north, we hit race #3 in Minnesota.
Three races in five days in three states? SUCCESS!!!
The halfway point home was Kansas City, and since it was our birthdays we stopped to celebrate with family.
Our travel and race map never looked so good.
Back home and just in time for visits from friends – coworker Sunny the Dog and Uprising Alum Sarah.
We ended the month with some of the highest temps we’ve ever seen, let alone had the misfortune of having to do a long run in. But we survived.
