This was such a fun project – even better that it was fast to do! – with a WOW result.
For your own pom-pom blanket, plan on using 1.5 yards of fleece (2 yards if you want a group snuggle size) and about twice as many yards of trim as yards of fleece.
I saved quite a bit of money by purchasing blizzard fleece while it was 50% off at one of my local craft stores. I found a great vendor from Thailand on Etsy for the trim. She makes all sizes of pom trim in a huge variety of colors. Even with international shipping, it was incredibly reasonable and the quality was fantastic.
Simply cut your fleece (or be smart and have the shop cut to size for you!), then carefully sew the trim around the edge.
Altogether, this took me about an hour before my work day started. We all love snuggling under it and (miraculously) the boys haven’t attacked the poms yet.
