I’ve hit nearly every Christmas decor selling shop in north Texas looking for a particular wreath (to no avail) over the past few weeks.
Two observations:
- Far too many stores already have Christmas items on clearance. As if it’s insulting enough to endure Christmas-on-display in late September, now I can’t even find what I’d like to buy when I’m ready to buy Christmas in mid December. Retail mania is out of control. (Yes, I’m talking to you, Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann’s!)
- Pier One has the most delightfully gorgeous Christmas decor this year. It’s a very well edited collection and I was hard pressed to not buy one of everything in the store.
Please indulge me in a little Pier One loving…heaven knows that store has gone through some hard times in recent years, so I think they have earned it!
Cute, cute towels – I need these for my kitchen:
Naughty or Nice Towels |
Can you see me whipping up an angel food cake wearing this? Love!
Mrs Claus apron |
I carried this around the store for 10 minutes before I forced myself to put it down. Sadness. Or willpower. Or a little of both.
Winter wreath |
I can see this wrapped around my banister. I only need nine, maybe ten, sets!
Felt snowflake garland |
I want this. Badly.
Embroidered reindeer pillow |
I have plans for these stocking holders. Very, very good plans.
Wooden stocking holders |
Sigh. Maybe some of these lovelies will still be available in the after-Christmas sales. Pier One, unlike many other retail giants, isn’t trying to clearance sale Christmas before Christmas. God bless them.
That felt snowflake garland–I expect to see that on your "to make" list for next Christmas.
If you think Christmas stuff already being clearanced is bad, consider this: I read recently where a number of retailers already have stuff out for Easter.
John – ICK. I did see Valentine's Day out.
My theory re Michaels/Jo-Anns/Hobby Lobby is that those stores are designed for craft projects…most projects should be done and ready to go by the holiday, thus a different sell cycle. But it still stinks. And they shouldn't clearance wrapping paper, too, that early.
Sheryl – probably so!!! Would be much cheaper. Maybe I can buy felt to make a garland when it's put on pre-Christmas sale in September. 🙂
