No, this isn’t about Super Sleet 2 (which ended up being rather Sub-Standard Sleet, if you ask me). This story is about something that happened months ago – last October.
The Boy was walking home from work and noticed a check on the sidewalk. A signed check…and not marked for deposit only. Yikes!
He brought the check home and we tracked down the house address on the check. I found their phone number and called to verify the address. Turns out it wasn’t that far from where we live, so the next evening, I went for a run and dropped the check by their house. I spoke briefly with the husband and he asked for our address so they could write a thank you note.
And that was that.
Until this week when the doorbell rang. Outside was a lovely Chinese woman with a gift and a thank you note. It was the woman who we’d returned the check to all those months ago. She decided to wait and thank us at Chinese New Year’s. What a nice surprise for The Year of the Golden Rabbit.
According to Chinese tradition: The Rabbit brings a year in which you can catch your breath and calm your nerves. Make it a goal to create a safe, peaceful lifestyle, so you will be able to calmly deal with any problem that may arise.
That would be a pretty good gift in itself, wouldn’t it?
Nice card and super-yummy cookies! |
Always nice when it comes at an unexpected time.
Catch your breath and calm your nerves? You? I'll believe it when I see it. 😉
@Sheryl – I agree. It made it so much nicer.
@John – you're very funny. 😉
