These are a Few of My Favorite Things

I’m back from taking my love to the airport. I have to confess – I’ve already called him, just to hear his voice one more time! I think that an 8-day break from all communication is going to be very tough for me.

I am, you see, happily codependent.
But, if one has to say goodbye to one’s love, the experience should at least be carefully wrapped in all sorts of favorite shared experiences. It helps to make the going, and the apart-ness, a little more bearable.
So last night I cooked one of Kelly’s favorite dinners. We went for a walk through our favorite park. We watched one of our favorite movies (The Princess Bride). This morning, we drank a cup of our favorite coffee before heading off to enjoy our favorite comfort-food breakfast at the Cracker Barrel.
And amazingly enough, I didn’t cry at the airport. I think I’ll save that for my favorite time to cry, when I’m all alone, bored and feeling sorry for myself! But maybe I’ll keep myself busy enough working on the new Hayley home, visiting with friends and plugging away at the office so I don’t really have time to be alone, bored or feeling sorry for myself.

You’re in my prayers! Remember, this too shall pass. Just take it one day at a time. And if you need friends, we’re here!

  2. Thanks, Craig!

you made me tear up with the beautiful words. I don’t know what I would do with no communication with my husband. I will keep you and him in my prayers.
