I’ve wanted to be in a book club for some time. I tried joining one at work when I first joined my company in 2012, only to have it disband because everyone’s workload became too crazy. Reading things other than what you must read for work and professional development is just a good thing. Anyway, […]

Leadership Plano: What The Fuss is About
In a fit of unreasonable schedule assessment, I applied to be a part of Leadership Plano. And I have to say, a little unreasonableness is a good thing every now and then! Leadership Plano is an educational program, a leadership development program, a … well, it’s many things, but primarily it’s an amazing opportunity offered […]
Tackling Embroidery
I’ve finally conquered part one of a failed past with handiwork craft: I embroidered! (Still to be addressed: My impatience with cross stitch, knitting and crochet. But one thing at a time.) I started with an easy-peasy project – a sweet little bib for a sweet little girl that’s on the way for a dear […]
Book Making
A couple of years ago, my grandmother gave me a digital copy of a book she’d worked on for a number of years, tracing her family history. Yet this was no dry genealogy book nor was it a series of mere stories. For years, Grandma and Grandpa had painstakingly researched our family roots. She then […]
Revisiting my 2014 Dallas Marathon
Still playing blog-catch-up after months of crazy-busyness and not wanting to do anything other than work and sleep. As I mentioned yesterday, I had an insane week leading up my all-important Dallas Marathon. The first decent night’s sleep I had was the evening before the Saturday expo. So it’s no wonder I was in high […]
Leadership Requires Vulnerability
I went to a leadership retreat last month. We did a variety of team-building activities, including outdoor challenges, as part of a process to get know ourselves and each other better. I’ll write about this group in a later post, but for now I’ll simply say that I’m fortunate to be part of a group […]
Pinterest Challenge: DIYing the Urban Outfitters Corner Ruffle Duvet
Sigh. I was saving this post for the next Young House Love Pinterest Challenge. Then they announced they were on a break, which has officially become a very looooong break. Sniff – I loved that blog! But I’m all about bucking up and moving forward, so here’s my personal tackle that pinned onto Pinterest project […]
Achievement Without Effort
Much to my surprise, I went the entire month of September without stopping for fast food. It’s a miracle, particularly when you factor in a trip out of town, special events and several late work nights. (Now that it’s crossed off the 101 list, can anyone tell me where’s the closest Whataburger?) Source
We’re Platinum!
Not album sales…we’re talking wellness program status. That makes 3 years in a row. Whoo-to-the-hoo! Higher level = better program rewards as well as the knowledge that we’re doing all we can do to keep our health and wellness at good levels. 101 goal – check!
Marking a Record
This year was the big 1-5 for the Hayleys – 15 years of (mostly) wedded bliss. As DINK (Dual-Income-No-Kids), we’ve been a footloose and fancy free household. In 15 years, we have: Lived in 5 apartments Rented 1 house Owned 1 house Cared for (and spoiling) 3 cats Moved overseas (and back) It only seemed […]
