I just received an email from my running club about my pace group assignment. They’ve put me in: Burning Booties Since my goal in running is to get fit while still being able to enjoy food, I think that group is most apropos.
Running
Gotta Run…
Up at 5 am on a Saturday. There’s something not right about that. I’m up at 5 am because The Boy has convinced me to join his running training group. The goal: Help Shannah make it through an entire marathon without stopping at the 20 mile mark to cry. A noble goal, don’t you think? […]
On the Way…Kind Of
Just a quick note about Team Hope…I told you that we survived the Cowtown Marathon – me with a PR (personal record) and The Boy with a medal for completing, despite an injury. And that’s all fine and good, but what about Team Hope? We raised about 1/5 of what we need to go. So we […]
Boy, Are We Tired…
…and sore and limping a little and dressed a little more casually (read: comfortably) than we would for a normal Monday morning. Let’s just call it a Post Marathon Monday. I’d write more – but I’m tired, sore, limping a little and so casually dressed that I might just go back to bed if I’m […]
Apparently, I am Hard Core
The Boy and I are continuing our prep work for the 2012 Cowtown Marathon. Seven weeks and counting! Seven weeks means there’s plenty of time for some additional long endurance runs and speed training to improve our overall performance. Side note: I hate speed work. Correction: I HATE SPEED WORK. I’d say I feel better […]
BEing in 2012: BE Active
Part of dealing with a really cruddy year (I’m talking about you, 2011) is that you find a certain pleasure in figuring out what you want to do for the next year to reduce any potential cruddiness. One change that The Boy and I made years ago was to embrace an active lifestyle. The new year […]
Running the Mission Trail
Some people run a marathon for health. Some for the challenge. I run to keep up with The Boy…and in San Antonio, to run the mission trail. This is the first time I’ve ever been accused of running a tourism marathon. But seriously, what is the point of running past four historic missions if you […]
Reflections on a Long Run
Saturday I ran 24.25 miles. It was my last long training run before the San Antonio Marathon, which is just 2 weeks from now. And, as is usual, there’s not a lot to do on a long run except encourage yourself to keep going and think about various and sundry random things. Things like… Running is […]
Unintended Consequences
Sometimes when you are running on the local park trails, listening to your Makes Me Wanna Sing Out Loud iPod playlist, you may find yourself singing out loud. PS – it’s really cool when you run out from under the tree canopy and into the first light of day just as Gloria Estefan belts Coming-out-of-the-dark. […]
Team Hope
Some long-time blog readers (and family and friends) may remember that The Boy headed off on a trip to an unnamed (in the blog anyway) country to share Hope and Good News the week after we bought The Hayley House. I got to stay behind and sort the details of paint colors and contractor punch […]
