I’m quite certain that my weekly runs with this group are a big part of what gets me through tomorrow’s Dallas marathon. That and running with my Marathon Man. He’s pacing me – pray for him and hope for the best for me!

We’ve Drunk the Juice
Last month, Kelly surprised me with a text message that simply said: Have you ever considered juicing? The truthful answer was yes – but only in theory. Yes, I like fresh-pressed juice but no, I don’t want to add another time-consuming activity to my life. So I said: Yes, but I’d only juice if I […]
We’re Platinum!
Not album sales…we’re talking wellness program status. That makes 3 years in a row. Whoo-to-the-hoo! Higher level = better program rewards as well as the knowledge that we’re doing all we can do to keep our health and wellness at good levels. 101 goal – check!
Cross Training
Now that Kelly’s finger has healed, twice a week we’re heading to the pool to swim laps. Yes…swimming laps. I haven’t swum laps since swimming lessons and I don’t want to think about how many years ago that was. Kelly’s never swum laps before – in fact, he’s never taken swimming lessons. I’m his instructor […]
Celebrating My Birthday Early…Again
First, an iPad as an early birthday present from the husband. Then a RoadID as an early birthday present from the friends. Excellent gifts!! The RoadID can be purchased to attach to a shoe or to wear on your wrist. You specify what vital information should be displayed on your ID – I added a motivational message, […]
Get in the Game…er…Gym!!
We used to be gym rats – then suddenly we weren’t. I can give a ton of reasons why this happened: Our gym sold out, the new location wasn’t convenient, I started working downtown, we got a lot of exercise running so the gym wasn’t as useful… Bottom line: We quit the gym. Quitting the […]
Turnabout is Fair Play
He bought me an iPad for an early birthday present. So I cashed in some Amazon gift card money that we’ve earned through our health rewards program and got him this fancy-pantsy triathelete training watch. The Garmin 910XT. He’s in runner geek heaven!
Can’t Help but Cheer
Kelly signed us up to be team members for a friend’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life team. And let me just say, you can’t help but be a cheering fan when you see this group round the track for their first lap of the evening.
Another Weird Thing…
The thing about eating dinner with your favorite hand therapist is that you sometimes learn that a small football injury that you thought was a jammed joint is really Mallet Finger. Bummer for my guy. But at least he’ll get to spend some more time with his favorite hand therapist! And there’s nothing quite like […]
Small Town Moments in the Big City
I grew up in a small town. Not an itty-bitty wide spot in the road, but a small town all the same. Living in a big city is great in many ways – Dallas certainly isn’t as massive as D.C. or London, but it’s a metroplex and everything that I could want to do (concerts, […]
