It may have been just one week after he ran another marathon and he may have been in the middle of battling a terribly head-and-chest-cold, but Kelly successfully once again ran the Tyler Rose Marathon.

The Wineglass Marathon
Our first marathon of the 2016-2017 running season was the Wineglass, held in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York at the beginning of October. We ran it because many of our Galloway friends were going, the scenery featured beautiful fall colors and the weather would be nice and cool. Here’s the reality check for 2016: At least many of our Galloway friends were there. One out of three is bad, trust me.
Wicked Wine Run
Note to self: Never confuse the city of Burleson with the city of Bedford. The difference is about 35 minutes of driving. But if you do confuse the two, at least know you’re going to spend time with girfriends and your spouse at a race. That’s always ok. Yes, confusion over location and enthusiasm over friend time led […]
Halfway Done
Over the Labor Day weekend we hit the halfway mark in our running group’s training season. How can we be halfway through already? (Cue head shakes about the ever-increasing speed of time passing as we get older.) Yet at the same time, Kelly and I wonder how we can only be halfway through. Our marathon […]
Three Halfs in Four Months
I had a goal of running three half marathons in one year. I just didn’t plan to run three halfs over the course of four months. But you know, sometimes weird stuff like that happens. New Orleans Half Marathon {February 2016} A little warm in New Orleans for February, but it was still a lot of […]
A Month of Races
That time we accidentally registered for so many races that we ran one nearly every weekend over the course of six weeks.
Feeling Crafty: A Running Toolbox
Back for a second project designed to get the Dallas Galloway running group a little more organized. Last season, our medical supplies were tossed into a box.And our medical supplies were pretty basic: Advil, band aids and a bottle of insect repellent. Hardly as thorough as we would have liked. So after the season ended, […]
Feeling Crafty – And Organized
We’ve learned a lot after our first season leading the Dallas Galloway marathon/half marathon training program. One thing I learned was that I needed to be a bit more organized with our running supplies. First up: Organizing the piles of training shirts that our runners receive at season kick off. To keep the process simple, […]
Running Basics: Working on Form
One of my 101 goals was to work on my running form. I was doing a good job of that – until I broke my foot, of course. I won’t let that discourage me. Back to running form: Kelly and I took a 4-week class with several members of the Dallas Galloway training group. Taking […]
Good Advice from Johnny Quinn: Think Like An Olympian
Our team had a great meeting last month, looking at change in our organization and the ways that change is leading to opportunity. Yes – change, while tough at times, can be a good and invigorating thing. As part of the change opportunity discussion, we had an opportunity to hear from U.S. Olympian Johnny Quinn […]
