June 2024 Wrap Up

June was filled with drama, thanks to May’s destructive storm (equalling a lot of work 7 days/week) and a work trip that went very awry.

Interval Run Club Dallas – Year 30 and Hayley leadership year 10 – kicked off!

Because of continual storms, Glory was STILL at camp 6 weeks after we dropped her off for a 3-week stay. Our trainer is great! He just laughed when I (somewhat jokingly) asked for proof of life and texted us this photo of our silly girl.

After 18 months of work, I graduated with my Certified Public Manager credentials. It was a great day at the Texas Capitol, except for the nail in my tire that almost made me late for the ceremony.

After fixing my tire, it was on to San Antonio for the TAMIO annual conference. It was also our 50th year celebration as an organization.

I participated in a panel presentation on internal communications. Great timing, since we just relaunched our program a month earlier.

We didn’t take home the top prize for any of our shortlisted awards, but we did bring home 4 awards. Not bad!

I also was elected President-Elect for TAMIO. The next few years are going to be busy and fun!

Sadly – a nail in my tire was the least of my problems on this trip. Midway through the conference, my car was broken into. I’m still mad at the valet’s parking location (under the interstate in a city-owned unsecure parking lot?!?!) and the inconvenience of repairs and replacing paperwork that was taken. I am grateful for a wonderful State Farm agent who made the process as simple as possible.

As I was heading back home from San Antonio with a broken window, Glory finally headed home with Kelly. She was VERY happy.

The rest of the month was filled with lots of family time at home and running with friends. This is what we live for!

Even though she is happy to spend time with me, Kelly is clearly Glory’s favorite person.

Speaking of running – Lori and I did not appreciate this guest to our weekday run!

We ended the month with friends – hosting our PGL family for our annual breakfast meet-up. These dedicated folks have paced our runners for several years now and our IRC family would not be the same without them.
