October was, as seems to be typical for us, supremely busy. Bring on the holidays next month when we can catch up on rest!
We hosted nearly 800 people for the grand opening of our new Fire Training Center. Perfect weather, perfect day – just how a month should get started.
Citizens Academy is back! This year I’m leading it – and that’s a first.
We headed to TML for the annual conference. Plano was up for two Municipal Excellence Awards and we won one! It was great to celebrate with Steve for our Stoler on the Street series: Best Communications Program for large cities.
We celebrated Jim’s 60th birthday in Tyler and the next day hosted Glory’s best doggo friend for a play date. She was WIPED OUT after such a big weekend.
We had a second Citizens Academy class. This time we met with the Parks & Recreation department.
Then it was off to Detroit for the Detroit International Marathon. Super fun running in the US and Canada!
Back home and off to Tyler for the Hayley family reunion. These folks are too much fun!!
Back at home, our firefighters let us test our skills at the Training Center. My takeaway? I could never do what they do.
Kelly finished the month by running an Ultra at the Marine Corps Marathon. It was a huge Galloway group experience, plus John.
