A classic Hayley family recipe. Sandy shared this simple recipe with me on December 3, 2003 so I could make it for Kelly while we were living overseas. He asks for it every Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
Meme’s Fruit Salad
- 2 apples
- 2 oranges
- 2 bananas
- 1 small bottle of maraschino cherries, drained – reserve the liquid
- 1/2 c chopped pecans
- 1 c miniature marshmallows
- 1/2 c whipping cream
Cut up fruit in large bowl. Halve the maraschino cherries, add to fruit. Add pecans and marshmallows. In measuring cup, combine whipping cream and liquid from cherries. Stir into fruit and mix well. This will keep 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but deteriorates exponentially after that.
Note: I usually cut this recipe in half. It still provides enough fruit salad for 6 generous servings.
Looks yummy!
