Recipe | Grandma Alloway’s Cranberry Relish

I have loved this my entire life. Grandma Alloway finally gave me the recipe as a Christmas present in 2006.

Grandma Alloway’s Cranberry Relish

Written as she sent it to me.

  • 2 medium apples
  • 2 medium oranges
  • 1 lb pkg whole cranberries (probably 12 oz size now!)
  • 1 c of sugar (more to taste…we liked it a bit on the tart side)
  • 1 c finely chopped English walnuts

Cut unpeeled apples and oranges in quarters and put with cranberries through food processor…I chopped them in the Cuisinart. (I used to use a meat grinder but it’s messy to clean.) Add remaining ingredients, mixing and stirring well. Refrigerate at least 1 day before serving.

Notes: I always cut this recipe in half because it makes a lot. I peel the oranges, but not the apples. I also found you can freeze this in small jelly jars and it keeps well for a long time.
