Recipe | Baked Chicken Fried Steak

I bought several steaks in a buy-one-get-one shopping spree. This was a tasty way to enjoy steak without the grease from frying.

Baked Chicken Fried Steak

Inspiration here

  • Cooking spray
  • 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c 1 percent milk
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Hot sauce, to taste
  • 2 c bread crumbs
  • 2 T Montreal steak seasoning
  • 4 steaks (4 ounces each)

Preheat the oven to 400F. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray or line with foil coated with cooking spray. Pour the flour onto a dinner plate. In a shallow bowl, whisk together milk, egg and a few dashes of hot sauce. Place breadcrumbs, seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning, on a second dinner plate. Dredge steaks in flour, patting off any excess, then dip into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off. Finally, dredge them in bread crumbs, pressing lightly to help mixture adhere. Place steaks on the baking sheet. Spray tops of the steaks lightly with extra cooking spray. Bake until cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.
