How to sum up the Tulsa Marathon, Kelly’s 50th marathon? Cold. COLD COLD COLD COLD COLD.
So cold that I felt brilliant for deciding months ago to only run the half marathon, which meant I only froze for half the distance that Kelly ran.
I was glad it was cold, but wish we could have been 10 degrees warmer. Never doubt how warm 45F can feel – you’ll understand how cold 32F can feel when it’s drizzling and windy.
The race definitely was a giant party and the spectators on the course were amazing.
Nearly every mile of the course had informal “fueling” stations with food, adult beverages and Kleenex. God bless you, People of Tulsa.
The course was full of rolling hills and lots of beautiful Art Deco structures. Well done Route 66 Marathon/Half Marathon!
Never have I ever been so glad to get a medal.
Kelly added to his medal by running the “Center of the Universe” ultra – an extra .3 distance that earned him a commemorative coin.
