Armed Forces Day (May): We recognize those currently serving in the military.
Memorial Day (May): We remember all those who died in service to their country.
Veterans Day (November): We thank and honor all those who served in the military, both in war and peacetime.
In all cases, we never forget.
To help us remember the reason for Memorial Day, Kelly and I volunteer every year to help decorate the graves in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
This year it was hot, hard work because of Texas’ early heat and pre-drought status. It was a good reminder for us that even though we were sweating and straining to place flags, it was nothing compared to what members of the Armed Forces have experienced.
PS – if you didn’t know, Memorial Day was originally called “Decoration Day” in some parts of the United States.
