I had a goal of running three half marathons in one year. I just didn’t plan to run three halfs over the course of four months.
But you know, sometimes weird stuff like that happens.
New Orleans Half Marathon {February 2016}
A little warm in New Orleans for February, but it was still a lot of fun to run with my normal race companions as well as other running friends from Plano.
Summary: Fun and crazy. Cool medal. Great sightseeing along the course – including historic cemeteries, the French Quarter, bubble machines and men wearing red dresses without appropriate undergarments.
Nashville Half Marathon {April 2016}
Raining – epic rains, which faded away leaving hot and humid weather. I traveled there with my normal race companions but had the bonus of running the race with my Galloway (and former work) friend, Stephanie!
Summary: Awesome scenery, horrible hills, great bands. Neat medal.
Joplin Half Marathon {May 2016}
Very warm and very little shade, yet this is a race that raises money for victims of the Joplin tornado so who cares. This trip was just for Kelly and me – and Jeff Galloway. (yay!)
Summary: Holy cow are there ever hills (!), amazing crowd support, friendly runners, Jeff Galloway (!), emotional running through the tornado’s path and the flags commemorating the victims.
