Change Breaks Your Routine

I used to think that the greatest challenge of going through change was change itself.

But it’s not.

The greatest challenge of going through change is the disruption it causes in your every day routine.

What was is what was – past tense. Past tense = not now. Something else is now. And that something else is different.

I’ve come to believe that I like things that are different, but I crave routine. Routine brings structure, predictability and familiarity. If I could keep those things but have everything different, life would be great.

Of course, that’s not how life works and so I – like you – must learn to adjust.

And the great irony is that learning to adjust is a kind of change in and of itself.
