This weekend The Boy and I tried out a long-time local Tex-Mex favorite:
Tucked away just off of the historic main street, Tino’s Too has a very unassuming exterior and even more unassuming interior.
But it does have some pretty amazing salsa:
And the rest of the food wasn’t bad either! The enchiladas rancheros featured a tomato-style topping rather than the more familiar spicy sauce:
And the nachos were a messy platter of beans, meat and cheese. Just to be clear. I like a messy plate of beans, meat and cheese.
Of course, you have to try out the homemade sopapillas…they were ok. Not my favorite, but not terrible either. I wish they’d tasted a little fresher – more just-out-of-the-fryer than cooked about 5 minutes ago and kept warm.
All in all, it was easy to see why Tino’s, Too has been in business since 1976. It’s a great little hole in the wall.
But we’ll probably stay on the lookout for our personal favorite local Tex-Mex restaurant. It’s out there somewhere.
