Hi, my name is Shannah and I have too much junk in the trunk.
Seriously…this normally well-organized, a-place-for-everything-and-everything-in-its-place woman has a deep dark secret: My car trunk is in complete disarray:
Erp.
I decided it was high time to clean up that mess. Let’s just call this part of getting our lives pulled back together. You know, while we’re busy finding ourselves, we’re finding the car trunks again.
I found reasonably-sized storage trays at The Container Store for a budget-friendly price: $6 each. The trays have gripping feet to keep them from sliding around in the car.
I filled the trays with an assortment of things that you’d want and/or need to have on hand when on the road. My car kit includes:
- A blanket – handy for impromptu picnics or staying warm if we breakdown on a winter trip to visit family in Kansas
- Jumper cables
- Bug spray
- Sunscreen
- Small hand towel
- Mini-umbrella
- First aid kit
- Ice scraper
- Tire pressure gauge
- Flashlight (designed to work as an emergency flasher as well)
- Glow sticks (safer than carrying flares)
- Reusable shopping bags
- Tire inflater (it has its own storage bag, so I just attached hook-and-loop tape to keep it in place in the trunk)
Once everything was neatly packed, back into the trunk it went. Now the car trunk looks like this:
