Something for Nothing

To do something, sometimes you have to do nothing.

Shut the calendar. Don’t answer the phone. Ignore emails. Spend uninterrupted time at home with those you love.

The interesting thing about being intentional about rest is that you are given abundant energy in return. It’s almost as though intentionality serves as a multiplier for the amount of energy you gain through your rest.

And that’s how The Boy and I managed to do a lot of nothing this weekend, yet also grocery shop, prepare food for the next week, run 15 miles and purge our filing cabinet of nearly two feet of outdated paperwork.

Plus I was able to wake up relaxed and ready to go on a pre-work run today. That’s the true measure of a restful weekend – how you feel when Monday rolls around.
