Embracing the Now

Wow. February is turning out to be a veeeeery busy month – lots of work trips, deadlines, evening events and the like. It’s a good thing we have an extra day (thanks to Leap Year) to get it all done.

My plan to keep myself from going completely mad is to embrace the now. Each day I’m asking myself what I need to be doing that day and then focus on that alone.

But more important than that, I’m also giving myself permission to not do certain things. I get through my “need to do” list and let the other things go. That explains why dishes from last night’s dinner are still sitting in the kitchen sink.

(Anyone who knows me knows that I would normally have washed those about 10 minutes after we ate.)

It also explains why The Boy and I fell asleep snuggling on the couch last night and why Ben is sitting on my lap for hugs while I’m writing this morning.

What can I say? Those are simply things I need to be doing now.
