With the departure of The Niece, we Hayleys find ourselves in possession of some rooms that we’re pretty excited about – rooms that were part of our purchase of the Hayley House in the first place.
And those are…guest rooms!
We’ve had a room that’s served as an office/guest room/craft room, in addition to The Niece’s room and the game room/storage room/The Niece’s piano practice room. Now we’re ready to shuffle rooms back to their original envisioned purposes.
After The Niece moved out, I sat in her room for some time, thinking about what the room could look like. So many possibilities, so many options, so hard to decide.
I already knew that I wanted to move the salvaged bed frame into this room. Remember this alleyway treasure?
And I was fairly certain that I’d keep the desk The Niece and I painted in the room as well:
After all, it coordinates perfectly with my repurposed plant tidy-now-scarf and hat tidy:
Beyond that, I didn’t have a clue.
Finally, I thought it might help to look at the room with the bed’s headboard in place. So I went to – where else? – the game room/storage room to grab the headboard and that’s when inspiration struck!
The bedframe was leaning against a nook where I’ve been storing some paintings that The Boy brought back from his mission trip to a certain Caribbean country.
This one caught my eye:
The colors are so interesting, so alive! And the blue tones are the same French blue as the desk and scarf tidy. Perfect!!!!!!!
It’s now officially my inspiration painting and will, of course, be finding it’s way onto one of the walls in Guest Room #1.
Full disclosure: I shared my inspiration with The Boy and he’s totally on board. 100% agreement? That never happens and, thus, means that it’s meant to be!
