The prescription for my weekend was lots and lots of rest. The goal: To get rest. And to heal my back. (Both equally important!)
As The Boy said (frequently): You need to rest. You need to get well. You need to stop doing things.
He was pretty bossy. But I decided that he was probably right.
So Saturday, we rested. Then Sunday, we rested. And then I started feeling bored.
I pulled out a craft project I’d left in the corner of the Hayley House and started working on it.
What are you doing? asked The Boy. You are supposed to be resting.
{Rats!}
I rested a bit more, then realized that the white matting I’d used while framing some artwork was driving me crazy. I pulled the pictures off the wall and switched the matting to black.
What are you doing?!? exclaimed The Boy. I told you – you need to rest.
{Fine}
Then the laundry needed folding. Really it did.
You are doing too much! said The Boy. Your one job is to rest.
{Sigh}
By Monday, I was flat-out tired of resting. No.More.Resting!
I’m going to wash the car, I told The Boy.
No you aren’t, he said. You need to rest. You don’t want to do too much.
I’m feeling much better! I didn’t even take medicine today, I said.
So why are you walking a little hunched over? I don’t think you’re 100%. You need.to.rest.
{Double sigh!}
So no – I didn’t wash the car. Or do too much. Or stop feeling bored.
But I am on Day 2 without medicine of any kind and am feeling much better! I think it’s because I made sure to get plenty of rest.
{hee hee}
You may need to get away from your house to rest!
Yes – I need rest from all of the rest!
Who was making the angel food cake?
That is another blog post!
