Never Too Old To Learn

Before the Christmas Blizzard of ’09 got too bad, my dad and I took an educational field trip.

To Home Depot.

The purpose? To learn about electricity! Specifically, I was trying to learn about the different kinds of light switches and how to change them, what on earth GFIC plugs were and how to select a programmable thermostat.

Yeah, I am a nerd that way.

The one thing I’ve learned since we purchased the Hayley Home is that projects don’t seem so daunting if I do a bit of homework first. Rather than making multiple trips and exchanges, I now spend time looking and asking questions long before I ever intend to buy.

So off my Dad and I headed to Home Depot so I could ask him all sorts of questions about light switches and GFIC plugs and switch plates and thermostats and breaker boxes.

It was very…enlightening!

Can you guess what home improvement projects are on the list for 2010?

That's what happens when your dad has an Electrical Engineering degree and you didn't pay attention when you were growing up.
