I’ve been on the run so much this fall that my body’s decided to put a temporary halt to all but the most essential of activities.
Fortunately, it waited for complete shut-down until after I ran my leg of the White Rock Marathon Relay (our team was 72nd out of 262 – not bad!).
The sniffles started on the bus back to the parking lot. The cough started in the car on the way home. After a hot bath, I completely crashed on the sofa.
I’m going to blame that last bit on Ben. Warm kitty, blanket, DayQuil…done.
It’s a jolly good thing that all things, well, jolly are finished until Christmas itself. My love and I will have a week and a half to rest, recover, drink eggnog and look at holiday lights until we celebrate the holidays with our families.
In the midst of all of this, The Boy has mentioned that perhaps I ought to concentrate on just the essentials next year. But whenever one of us offers a suggestion for what should be dropped, the other insists that it’s an essential. As in:
- No baking for the firefighters and police this year. (But they have a thankless job for not enough pay!)
- Cut back on holiday parties (Except for the offices, the cookie exchange and the parties of close friends…)
Hmmm….its not looking good for slowing down.
Personally, I don’t think it was the baking or the parties that pushed me over the edge.
It was shopping at the last minute!
We have no excuse for the bug we've had the past week – no Christmas shopping, no Christmas parties, no rushing around.
