Full O’ Holiday Spirit

The first week of December was a whirlwind of holiday parties (3 for him, 5 for me), decorating and Christmas shopping.

The weather even cooperated – snow flurries on Wednesday and just downright chilly temps over the weekend. Did we ever wish that we’d had the chimney swept and the gas starter pipes installed! Next year…

Instead, the furbabies did their part to keep everyone (or at least The Boy) warm:

Saturday night was my office party. The Niece and I, on a roll after an afternoon of (very) successful Christmas shopping, put together a gorgeous cheese tray. When I arrived at the party, one of the guests mentioned, Gosh, that’s so nice! You ought to take a photo of it.

Of course, I confessed that I already had:

One thing I love about holiday weekends is turning on the Christmas tree lights all day. This photo is by request from The Youngest, who wanted to see more than my close-up photos of our ornaments. Looking at the tree, I can tell we need more lights and a bigger tree topper. There’s always next year!

We’ve started wrapping a few presents to keep the tree from looking too empty. I know some folks will wrap empty boxes that can stay all season under the tree. That would not work for me. Not only will this create something else that I’ll have to store, I’m quite sure that I’ll forget which is a fake present and which is real. If you open an empty gift, does that mean you’ve got memory problems or is Santa trying to tell you something?

Anyway, I’ve stuck the presents I do have wrapped (very few), our white elephant gift exchange presents and our donations for our HOA stuffed animal drive for Adam’s Animals (part of our HOA holiday party):

The sleet-like mist and chilly temps put us all in the mood for Starbucks Peppermint Hot Chocolate and driving to look at holiday lights.

What puts you in a holiday spirit?
