It’s rained, nearly non-stop, since Thursday evening. But Friday was the office happy hour at Blue Mesa.
The restaurant was busy, so we opted to sit outside. Amidst the conversation and story-telling, a couple of folks kept obsessively checking the weather radar on their iPhones.
20 minutes until it gets here, said Weather Watcher.
Are you sure? I asked.
15 minutes until it gets here, they insisted.
We might stay dry, I said.
10 minutes until it gets here, continued the countdown.
You never know, I commented.
5 minutes until it gets here. I’m leaving now, and with that, she was gone.
I glanced at the sky – Hmmm, I wonder what I should grab if it does start raining?
A couple of minutes later, it started POURING.My phone buzzed. It was a text from one of the now-on-the-road weather bugs:Timing is everything!
Were there no umbrellas or tent canopies? Makes me think of the last night we ate out (literally) in Hawaii this summer. We were seated under large umbrellas but a few showers kept blowing in. Very soon the servers were bringing out large beach towels for the customers to wrap themselves in and to dry themselves off.
That is too funny… iPhones rock.
dad was in town?! lol
