A Hayley Vacation: Day Seven

Sunday is our final full day in our little cabin in the woods. It’s also the Wheeler’s anniversary. No better way to celebrate our final day than to spend it celebrating our friends’ wonderful marriage.

We discover we’re running out of charcoal and no one has the energy to go back into town. Besides, today’s game is Use Up All Leftovers. So John and Kelly mix the remaining charcoal with some wood to create an amazing campfire stove.

They grill chicken and corn, while Stacie and I make coleslaw, broiled tomatoes and deviled eggs. Hardly a word passes while we eat – we’re all too busy stuffing our faces. After the table’s cleared, we agree that this was the best meal of the week.

Our sunburns force us to stay indoors, watching episodes of the funniest underappreciated show on network television, Arrested Development.

We finally head out at twilight for one final marshmallow roast.

I can’t think of a better final dinner than s’mores.
