I’ve had those bushes in my yard. This isn’t success. This is just round 1.
I’m afraid John is right. Killing the root system is the only permanent solution you’ll find. But hey! It looks better for now. 😀
And the best way to kill the root system is what? Important note: annoying tree/weed/bush is located directly next to all of the utility infrastructure for our house and our neighbor’s.

Well, unfortunately, drilling holes into the trunk and pouring in gasoline is the most efficient method of eradication. But in your case, I wouldn’t recommend that. I’d call an expert out – they dig these up all the time.
