I’m so tired of constant whining! It seems I can’t escape laments about the down economy, high taxes, and the general unfairness of life.
Here’s my piece of advice: if life is so terrible, then do something to change it. Quit being a victim. Grow the heck up. Life is hard. Nothing is free, easy or earned merely because you show up.
I don’t mean to suggest that I don’t have empathy and compassion for those who are dealing with hardships. I just am fed up with the continual moans and groans of those who are waiting for others to fix their problems.
In my disgust, I got to thinking that we just might need some new terminology for those living through These Difficult Times.
Here’s what I’ve come up with:
- Generation Y: Generation “Why is this happening to me?”
- Generation X: Generation “Everyone, EXCEPT for me, had this coming to them”
- Baby Boomers: Baby, the BOOM you hear is my 401k imploding and now I can’t retire to a life of travel, golf and a condo in Miami.
- The Greatest Generation: The “Great God Almighty, do we have to go through this again?” When will these kids ever learn to study history?
What do you think? Do you have other names you’d suggest?
I dunno but I TOTALLY agree with your post. What you don’t know about my work and yet how you posted words that I am feeling right now scare me!
It’s oonagi!
okay, I had to look that up. lol
Ah, a classic “Friends” reference.
