Charlie Peacock, one of the artists performing at the Art*Music*Justice concert tossed a quick motto over his shoulder as he walked to his piano:
Live to love, and love to live.
For some reason, this phrase has really stuck with me. I’ve always been the sort that likes to have a personal motto. My motto changes over time, as I walk through different seasons of life.
A few of my past mottos:
- To make the best better
- Vision without plan is merely hallucination
- Joie de vere
- Carpe diem
- What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger
I choose my mottos based on how I feel at the time, or what I’m struggling with, or to focus on what I want to be.
Right now, I think I’m tired of being me-centric.
