Well, we finally know how to be married – we spent this weekend at a marriage conference!
We’ve been married a long time – almost double digits! Nine years in the bank. Nine years hitched. Nine years with the same last name. Pretty cool stuff. (By the way, have I mentioned that our 9-year anniversary was late last month?!)
Last weekend’s conference “A Weekend to Remember” was held at in DFW at the Gaylord Texan Resort by FamilyLife Ministries. Kelly’s company used the event as part of its staff development – a very unexpected treat for us.
We learned quite a bit! Apparently:
- We are both not perfect (shocking news for at least one of us),
- We can do a better job of communicating (again, particularly shocking news for one of us), and
- We still really like each other.
You know, you’re never to old to keep learning, and you’ve never been married too long to keep working on things.
A general truth: no matter how neat a resort is, something will always be not-so-neat. In the case of the Gaylord, everything was Disney-esqe: Always something to see and do. However, the resort also features beds that have the softness of ever-so-slightly padded floors.
