This idea just keeps evolving. And we LOVE it. The Plano Heart is moving all around the city, but it started it’s tour in Haggard Park in downtown Plano. We #LoveIt as much as we #LovePlano!!
This only happened three months ago. But life and whatever. One of our newish local business owners is related to David Hasselhoff. So what do you do when you open? You invite family to help you celebrate. And if said family is The Hoff, you also make him an honorary citizen. You also get him […]
Just a few snippets of the St Patrick’s Day fun around our office… I’d heard rumors a leprechaun could occasionally be spotted at Municipal Center – Turns out the rumor is TRUE. Too bad I was on the phone so I couldn’t turn him in for a pot of gold! The team also headed to […]
We’ve purchased Desert Creek Honey since 2008 to help with Kelly’s allergies. Plus local natural honey is just yum for cooking. I’ve written many times about how much we love to tour factories – if there’s a chance to see how something is made, we are THERE. I’m sure part of my fascination with watch-it-made […]
Sometimes you just need a day off. To be clear – I rarely take these days, though I often need them. I decided it was time to prioritize rest so I did what any Type A person would do: I made a 101 List Goal to take time off for no reason other than to take time […]
Final post in my mini-series on connecting with elected officials. This week we focus on the local level. Every community, town and city is unique, but there’s one universal thing you should keep in mind: Local is where it matters most. Local government impacts you literally every day. The difficulty isn’t in access – that’s easier at the state level than it is at the national level. The difficulty is in providing a one-size-fits-all guide, because […]
Hello, my name is Shannah and I work in local government. I want to make it clear this post isn’t from “Shannah of the system.” Rather, it’s from “Shannah your fellow American who happens to have worked in D.C. for a summer teaching youth about our government and also has lived in some interesting places […]
Our office suite was terrible. Really terrible. A mishmash of furniture – leftovers, really – thrown into an available space. Cubicles set up haphazardly, without thought to who sat where. Team members scattered, spare cubicles filled with items never sorted or stored. What.A.Mess. Getting the office sorted was a priority of mine and fortunately, my arrival coincided with a long-planned remodel of the entire building.
I’m all in favor of simple things to keep you feeling your best – emphasis on simple. You won’t find me doing anything extreme and, thanks to my lovely naturally strawberry blonde hair, that includes any dye jobs. But whitening my teeth to combat any yellowing caused by my love for coffee? YES. When I told […]
