A Gift for the Neighborhood or How We Reclaimed Our Front Yard

Long after we ripped out the holly bushes to repair our foundation…

Long after the oak trees had killed nearly all of the grass in our front yard making our landscape officially the WORST in our neighborhood…

Long after all of that, we finally renovated our front yard landscaping.

We found an excellent local landscaper, thanks to the recommendations of neighbors. Eric did a wonderful job working up a landscape plan for us earlier in the year (I wrote about that here), then came back when we had the money saved to do the install.

Between rain and his other commitments, it took about 4 weeks to do the full project. No big deal…we loved watching it come together over time.

And we are SO HAPPY.

The planting beds look lovely. They’ll look even more lovely when the plants fully grow in.

But the most exciting thing, ironically, is the nice sod Eric installed. We finally have a yard full of grass!!

Our front yard is our gift to the neighborhood. We fully expect to win yard of the month next summer, just because we’ve made so much progress from our previous “Yard of Desolation.”
